    Hi,

I was on jobseekers benefit for 3 months ago. before that I was working for the same emplyer for 11 years. I started a new job last month and it has not worked out as I am working more hours than was agreed for no extra pay with this employer. I feel the employer was deceptive since the start with the workload. its an accounts job. I have started looking for a new job but i want to leave asap.
Can I get go back on job seekers benefit until I get a new job, what willthe department of social protection ask and can they say I am not entitled as I resigned? any advice :(

You will have to wait a minimum of 9 weeks before you can apply again. Its also easier to get a job if you are in one. I'd try and stick it out for now if it was me.

You can apply straight away. There is a maximum of 9 weeks that they can exclude you from payment. They will take into account your reasons for leaving, and a lot of the time you will be excluded for less. I resigned from a job last November and they totally waived the exclusion period for me, as they decided I was totally in the right to leave. If you do resign go in straight away and apply.

OP in the real world, if you are not happy with your job, you find another.

If you are not being paid your contracted hours you can take action. If you are being paid your contracted hours and are working extra unpaid hours - you can choose to stop (or just leave as soon as possible).

But why you should quit, & make your future employment prospects worse by having such a short employment on your CV?

It seems a lose/lose situation. Cutting off your nose to spite your face etc?
