My stopper cable for the engine is broken
When using a finger bar mower on the tractor I never realised the pto shaft was to short when lowered to the ground . It came apart swinging violently and hit the top link it stalled the engine when I let off the clutch it's now airlocked as a result before I go to start the tractor is there anything to check I don't no much about tractors any help is greatly appreciated

You ran out of diesel at the same moment your PTO shaft came apart?
What has the broken stop cable got to do with anything?

I couldn't turn off the engine when the shaft got caught on the top link because the cable was broken the only way to turn off the engine was to let go of the clutch it didn't run out of diesel but it seemed to get airlocked as a result

    Strange one all right.
You do know there is a clutch for the PTO for future reference?
Have you checked diesel level, filters etc?
Have you checked that the stop lever on the injector pump is in the "run" position?

You need someone to show you how to bleed a diesel system.

Yes everything is fine with the diesel filters and the pump is turned to the on position i don't have much experience with tractors but can't figure out how to get it unairlocked I loosed the injectors and got a bit of air but still won't start

Clutch packs were never the greatest but always got the job done

I would suggest that these two things are unrelated. Stalling a tractor by letting the clutch out sharply when in gear, would not lead to the diesel system being air locked.

Now if the tractor won't start it very well could be a diesel problem but it it very unlikely that it is directly related to the incident you mentioned.

To bleed air out of a diesel system you normally open a bleed screw on the injector pump and pump the diesel through manually (if there is a hand lever on the lift pump) until pure diesel is running out of the bleed screw (no bubbles or froth)

Close the bleed screw and loosen 2 or 3 injector pipes at the injectors. Turn the engine with the starter motor as normal until pure diesel is squirting out around the nut. Tighten the nuts and see if it will start, you normally get smoke form the exhaust at this stage, no smoke means no fuel getting into the cylinders.
