Just bought a VW Tiguan (131) plate from a reputable dealer (I thought) and have a number of issues. I've had it 9 days and 6 warning lights have come on already in the past few days (abs, lights, tyre pressure errors, start / stop system working then not working, auto hold stops engaging etc). There's also a steering wheel wobble over 110 kms p/h. With only 60k miles on the clock this shouldn't be happening. The cartel report suggests no previous accident etc.

Has anyone any previous experience of this type of situation? Should I be looking for a refund or replacement? Just curious what my rights are under consumer protection as this is from a Simi garage..

You can't demand anything you can make a request but the decision is with the dealer you'll more than likely be offered a repair, it sounds like all those faults are probably related to the same thing.

I'd say all electronic issues are related to the same singular fault.

Steering wheel wobble probably from bad wheel allignment. Any tyre place will check it.

Cheers for the replies. I was wondering if I bought a lemon as so many errors in the first week have occurred. Great car to drive but this doesn't look good for future reliability. I'm bringing back to the dealer tomorrow to see what can be done. Any Tiguan drivers out there with thoughts on long term reliability?

9 days and lots of error lights would be a bit scary. Maybe no harm to write/email the dealer listings the faults/error lights etc, it would stand to you if the car is indeed a lemon.Too early to say at the moment IMO.
Not a nice experience so far but give them a chance and hopefully everything will get sorted pronto.

It's very possible all those electrical warnings are battery related. I've seen a knackered battery cause all sorts of electrical gremlins. The steering wheel wobble is possibly a tyre balancing issue, it could also be a warped brake disc or buckled rim. Just bring it back to the dealer, they should resolve these issues.

I had these same lights on dash and turns out they all come on because of a faulty abs sensor.hash it out with the dealer

I drive an 09 Tiguan, one sensor fault on the engine caused a ream of errors and warning lights, once this was replaced all faults went away too.

If I were in your position I would be basing my opinion on how the dealer deals with the problem rather than anything else.

Get it checked independently,,any major issues, back to dealer with written proof,be reasonable, and maybe he will sort it,if not after giving him a chance to fix it,,small claims court

So, how did you get on with the Tiguan. I bought a 2012 one last month. Dpf light came on last Tues, did a regen spin from Dublin to Wicklow and all seemed well, today, DPF/EML/Glow plug lights and stop/start function error all occur. Tried driving to Wicklow again but nothing clearing and feels like the turbo & intercooler have been withdrawn from service and I just have diesel only power.

Your car is probably gone into limp home mode which is a safety feature designed to reduce performance of the car to protect the engine when the car's ECU detects a problem. Get the car scanned by someone with suitable diagnostic equipment to read the error codes which may help point to the cause of the problem.

Sorry to hear that. It turns out I had a faulty abs sensor and once replaced by the dealer all has been well so far.. maybe try that as I had a few of those lights coming on for some strange reason.

I can't think of any scenario where bad wheel alignment could cause steering wooble at speed.

Kerbed a wheel perhaps, and damaged a tyre. Are there any "lumps" on the thread?

Dropped the car off this morning. When driving if you turning ignition off and back on the Turbo/intercooler power comes back for about 5 secs and the car goes back to limp mode. Fingers crossed the garage can sort it today. Car is used part time as a taxi so I dont want to be without it at this time of year for any long period.

Hopefully it's just a sensor or something.
