    Hey guys,

I'm hoping to plan a holiday in Italy either in August or September. I've never been, where's good to go that has a mix of good food, nice bars, walks etc? We're a couple in out late 20s looking for a chilled holiday. Thanks!

We're just back from Sicily and it was hot, damn hot, so other than aiming a bit further North in Italy I can givce you no further advice as I assume you want the mainland.

If you're going to rent a car get rental insurance (much cheaper from a 3rd party).

Italy does not have bars or pub culture such as you get in Ireland. Italy has a fantastic food culture, eating in restaurants is the norm as opposed to fast food eating, which is rare.

Be prepared for the heat. Rome is a very busy and packed city with so many tourists visiting.

Milan is a nice city, especially the city centre, the Duomo there is an amazing cathedral. Dress accordingly if visiting, no shorts allowed.

Be prepared to que to enter historical attractions like the colosseum or Vatican.

If you want to visit sorento get the ferry across from the bay of Naples. Great short ferry trip. The amalfi coast in general is really nice.

Like I say there is no bar or pub culture in Italy. It's all about food, history, fashion, warm weather.
