Algarve village recommendation

Hi all can anyone recommend a village in the Algarve where we can stay within ten minutes walking from the centre, has a sandy beach and is somewhat family friendly ? Travelling mid October with a two and four yo. Won't be renting a car and ideally trying to find a three bedroom apt with a pool. TIA.
