RTE lw 252 is closing down for 2 weeks from Tuesday for changing the bottom plate on the mast, I guess the campaigners were wrong when they said rte were lying about the site needing expensive maintenance as the mast gets older ?

Iwonder will RTE put the sunday mass on RTE 1 while the lw service is off because if they think they can keep it on DAB and online they will soon find out what people think about the limited DAB service knowing that there is no broadband in the majority of the country and the most of the people interested in mass are elderly and have no interest in broadband and would not know about listening to radio on tv i wonder will they move Marian Finucane to fit it in :)

Lyric does a program of sacred music at Sunday breakfast time right ? A mass afterwards wouldn't be too out of place imo, not as out of place as Marty Whelan playing Bruce Springsteen:D

I think RTE are using LW as a dumping ground for programs that they don't want but have to put on THEY wouldn't use it for sport only and leave RTE 1 alone like last saturday the main radio station in the country had the rugby match on so there was NO NEWS at nine or ten o'clock i dont think it would happen in any other country

Absolutely true, the Eucharistic Congress in 2012 was exclusively covered on longwave for example.

However, the changes are not likely to be implemented immediately: the Government added that it would need to consider protections and "reciprocal arrangements may be needed to support this relaxation."

Now there might actually be a reason to buy a DAB radio if the main UK channels are available here.

I doubt if they will extend there transmissions from dublin cork and limerick to the rest of the country

That story has nothing to do with dab in ireland, its about rte radio one going on small scale dab in some uk cities as a replacement for lw.
