Not sure about the Fleming, we have a Brodgeway at home. Issue I have with semi offset is you're driving over some of the grass/rushes/docks before you cut them so there is a chance you'll miss them. See neighbours with side toppers and the finish is way better. I was looking at changing this year but have to put making an investment on the back burner!

I had a 6ft semi for a long time.. Am going changing it this week. It has run its course. Have it a good many years. As previous poster said I have an issue with the semi off set as you wont get a nice clean cut . your driving over a bit all the time. On the other side I have priced full offset toppers and there huge money, 4k for any sort of one. I cant justify this kind of money so Im going to go for the fleming full offset 6 foot topper. Only draw back is it has a lighter gearbox than the semi offset. Be careful if you do buy the semi off set there is a light and heavy version. get the heavy. Bang for buck I cant fault it but it just wont leave a neath finish

Thanks for the reply just wondering as two nearest suppliers do Fleming just don't know anyone near me with one.Fully offset wouldn't suit as I have a neighbour with a bit of woodland that he wants done twice a year .I also have a good bit of ground covered with briars and light scrub that I must try and get back into shape.

ya think there around 1100 for the 6ft semi.. I gave the lend of mine a few years ago. it never came back the way it went and it's been down hill ever since. If you mind it it will last many a year

You buy it new? I'll have to invest. Did 8 Acres over the weekend myself. Walked out of the fields happy with my work and came back this evening to see the grass and weeds popping up where the tracks were again. Heartbreaking stuff! Semi offset is a disaster.

no bought second hand. Its not a thing i'd normally buy second hand as you dont know what lads have hit with them but went for a look at one and farmer was genuine. He hadn't much land and you could know topper had nothing done. no belts of stones marks on the panel.
Im the same as you the semi offset is ok but as you say go back a few days later and you can see the wheel track. The back wheel of my tractor must be a foot wide, its just tramping the grass. The full off set is the way to go but you will pay to get rid of the wheel track.

Good choice with the Fleming topper. We bought one new 2 years ago for 1100. As the rest of them have said you are driving over the grass/rushes/thistles etc. when you are topping them. Besides that it is by far the best semi-offset topper I have used and leaves the best finish.

I ve seem lads with the semi offset toppers topping fields in reverse and have had no wheelmarks as a result .
The fathers tractor has a front linkage and pto , pondering buying a topper for that

you'd want good level fields if you go with a front mount

Have a 6ft O Conor semi offset and actually find better results when i top in reverse.
On a side note at times I would have to clutch to let the pto catch up if ye know what I mean. Is the topper the tractor or the driver the problem ?
Or is it just the volume of stuff it's being asked to cut.
    Tractor is a 265

the reason its better in reverse is because your not driving over the grass your about to cut hence a side mount will be a better option. Alot of people are going for a mower. 2 in 1 job but there big money new

I tried to top in reverse before but the topper just goes to one side and you can't go around bends properly. When you say have to wait for the pto to catch up do you mean that the tractor is dying out? If so it is the volume of stuff being cut. This only happens to me on really heavy stuff that would have to be the height of the front tyre.( I also use a 265 for topping). Best thing to do on heavy stuff is just take your time going through it.

I find if you lift the topper slightly its easier to turn on the corners and as you say fermer you need to give the machine time to work.

I've used a side mount and a semi offset, the semi offset work perfectly once the blades are kept sharp and it's not a hay meadow you're topping.

Anyone see the bamford semi offset on done deal look to be a well built machine.

No the pto would stall and take about 10 seconds to come to full power again.
In fairness I think it's the volume of stuff I sometimes cutting. Rushes !
Tractor due a bit of an overhaul though also. A priority for when funds allow.

Try going slower through heavy rushes. The 265 has plenty of power for topping heavy stuff. It is an absolute workhorse. I won't be getting rid of mine any time soon.

Pz165 is great at cutting rough uneven fields with mounds etc absolutely shaves them.
