    /Mother in ICU in hospital.

So my mother is unfortunately dying and for the last few days has asked me for an icepop. Like 17 times, the hospital wouldnt let her have any thing via her mouth but have reneged due to the circumstances.

So my old mother wants an icepop and I have to bring her one.

    What do i bring her?

I am leaning with a Twister.

Perhaps a brunch, so much nostalgia

Maybe a Solero or the like. With orange on the outside and ice cream on the inside. It would be refreshing. What flavours does she like?

Many old people can't swallow very well.
In nursing homes they thicken up juice with a powder.
I think it prevents fluid going into the lungs.

If your Mum is an elderly woman get her a selection of retro ice-pops.

Sorry to hear about your mum :'(

Personally, I'd get a cooler box, a bag of ice to keep them cool, and one of every one in the freezer.

Perhaps try to get ones that were out in the 80's-00's. There's a shop that does retro sweets near the Central Bank in Dublin; they may do retro ice-cream as well.

I've been there (ICU not near death). ICU is very uncomfortable and your mouth can dry out. I was desperate for fizzy juice drinks like rock shandy, 7up etc

Get her something like a cool pop or Calypso that she can suck/lick on to moisten her mouth.

Also my father used to work for Valley Ice Cream (only only Boardsies will get that) so a JR is out of the question.

Sorry about your situation, that's very sad.

A less sad thing, but which is still sad, is the state of brunches these days. Don't bother, she probably has good memories of them that would be better kept in tact, these days it's like the company measures success in terms of how little of the sprinkles they get away with putting on them.

Can't go wrong with a Twister, recipe hasn't changed, the consistency of the ice part is perfect and the ice cream off sets it perfectly. Good proportions of all the flavours too.

Now I'd be a mint feast man myself, but knowing nothing about your mam's taste or what she's able for, I would go with your first suggestion.

When the grandfather was in icu, we went for calipso or mr freeze , something he could suck , would melt, and would be easily eaten with no teeth in. As he got better, the crafty fellow would take huge chunks which they would have to suction out. Orange soleros when he was getting a bit stronger.

    Sorry to hear that OP.

I'd say a Calippo would be the easiest. You can buy a multipack of the smaller ones with a mixture of lime and orange.

Second choice would be a Solero.

The older generation would have grown up on Choc Ices.

I'd aim for a Feast or Magnum Almond myself

Ice pop or ice cream? Not the same thing.
