Mobile Broadband for Now TV?

I'm looking getting a Now TV box in the hope of watching the British Open (golf) on SKY over a mobile broadband connection in West Kerry. As far as I can see from the coverage maps 3G is definite but maybe not 4G.

Questions .... is this a runner? Can I get enough speed over mobile BB to support TV? What sort of data plan would I need... it is feasible?

Any advice on this would be appreciated. Maybe from someone down around that area....Ballyferriter.....?

    Thanks in advance.

As it's mobile I'd try the midband forum...

It could be moved easily, but the mods have left us here I fear.

Ballyferriter? Jesus, talking about the back end of nowhere. :pac:

Three: Unlimited, but often a bit slower
Vodafone/Meteor: Limited but sometimes faster (Limits are a problem for TV)

    So really you want Three.

If you can get line of sight to that central high site I'd be confident you'd have very few issues with 720P. The site is not on the summit of the hill but just down from it so coverage to the S/W/E should be very good but there may be a blackspot to the north.

If you get a 3 4G capable phone you can walk around the property and test. If its 3G only it will very much depend on your neighbours.

Not from the area but have used Now TV with both 3G and 4G broadband. Get Vodafone if you can and they have a 120GB plan which I find to be Plenty, but it's not the cheapest. Avoid Three as their network is overloaded nationwide.

It will all depend on reception of your local mast as well as how busy it is.

Yup, that question mark covers it. Thanks, much appreciate the info.

And it's a fabulous spot. Beautiful scenery, great golf course, great local pub(s). And only about 20 minutes to the buzzing hotspot that is Dingle! Ah here, I better stay quiet or the place will be overrun .....

Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated. I tend to favour Vodafone alright and have had better experience with them down there. We'll see how it goes....:)

    Nice one.

Looks to have been upgraded, how often would it be updated and any idea of the lag behind actual info wrt each mast?

IIRC the telcos have to furnish the new details to COMREG within a few months, how fast they post it to the site I'm unsure of.
