How do you feel about season 2 of Tokyo ghoul having a different story line?

I'm personally in favor of the fact season two won't be adapted from the manga. The original creator will be writing it; which means we can likely suspect similarities to season one. (Which is nice under the assumption you enjoyed season one.)

It'll shut a few of the manga ponies up that demand the anime be symmetrical to the manga. There was a lot of censoring and cut out scenes, plus the anime was speedy in general. So quite a few people were disappointed. It definitely lessened the animes significantly in terms of the potential it had to construct memorable scenes. Attack On Titan did a much better job. They never gave you a chance to capture the moment in Tokyo Ghoul.

If they adapted season two from the manga, I'm sure the same techniques used in season one would repeat. (Censorship, cut scenes, etc.)

At least with this, we can have somewhat better expectations. Ishida can redeem himself to the small handful of fans that were lost all simply due to the misguiding of the anime in relation to the manga, and in general he has the potential to now make season two amazing. He has much more potential than he'd have if he were to continue from the manga.
