just went to update my new address, but they would not accept my proof

It's a new house, so we have no proofs to speak of. All banking is online etc.

But I did renew my car tax recently and had the letter it came in, so I brought the letter along, but they wouldn't accept it because the tax disc was removed. Of course it was removed, it's on my car where it should be.

Not sure how the tax disc being present or not affects the state of my address or the validity of the document.

Here's the text from their site.(typos are theirs)
Other official correspondence from an Irish state agency e.g. government departments; HSE; Register of Electors/polling card; CAO; Susi; An Garda Síochána; Public / Priivate hospitals, Private Residential Tenancies Board or third level college, Secondary school /training agency, NCT Reports or reminders,An Post, TV Licence, National Cervical and breast Screening Programme,

    Pretty p.o.'d right now.

Can you not get your bank to issue a paper statement with your address on it?

lol, yeah. The vent was strong.

updating my drivers license at ndls.

I would've got my bank to send something out, but I figured the letter from the tax office was good. Still fail to see why the letter was invalid once the tax disc was removed. It wasn't damaged in any way.

Proofs of address must be no more than 1 year old and have a date of issue. In the case of a tax disc letter, the only date is on the actual disc. If the staff member took what you presented, your application could have been delayed by 6-7 weeks. They also accept online statements....once you have printed a copy that is.
