    Whats the issues ?

Hey mate, I can't get any of the radio stations to tune in, DVD wont play either. It's all wired up with all the connections but no idea what's going on. There was one other thing in the box but I've no idea where it goes or what it does as there was no connection I could see for it on the radio.

DVD is probably because the unit expects the hand brake to be on before it will play .There is usually a wire that you tie high (12v) to bypass it.

    As for the radio stations,
might sound silly but have you actually connected the antenna ?
Whats the car and whats the unit?

It's an audi a4 b7 and the unit is a Sony xav602bt. no mate doesn't sound silly, but the adapter for the antenna is connected and wired up. I think the hand break could actually still.be attached to the ground I'll check that out.

Handbrake wire is normally earthed, DO NOT connect it to 12v+ live before checking your wiring diagram. For an Audi like that you might need an aerial adaptor or amplifier for the radio to work properly.

My advise would be to take it to your local car radio shop (NOT Halfords) & ask them to fit it. You can get any needed parts for your aerial there.

Edit: Did you buy it online from overseas? Japanese tuners work on different frequencies, lower in the FM band.

I've only changed the radio on one VAG car (my own golf) and the reception was ****e.
does you r car have two antennas ?
if it does you'll need one of these

It might make a difference .

Seriously, take it to someone who knows what they are doing & pay to have it fitted correctly. Buying parts online you don't need because you don't know what's needed isn't going to get you anywhere.

I actually got the double adaptor for the antenna as required but still nothing. As for the unit its a legit Sony fav-602BT its still under warranty. Ill be trying one of the places today to see if anything can be done. Thanks for all the help everyone.
