Some left-field suggestions please..

Aint Eazy Being Cheezy

Hi guys..

Like everyone else in this forum, I'm seeking new wheels. I'm the least imaginative bloke possible, and if it's left up to me I'll buy a silver Passat. I'd like something that stands out slightly. I'm pretty easygoing on the make and model. The only requirements are:

Diesel - Lot of long motorway spins, also preferably 2L

Manual

Either saloon or 4x4, I'm currently driving a hatchback and I like to change completely each time

Lots of bells and whistles, cruise, climate and Bluetooth are a must

No 2 doors

Budget €10k, though there's leeway there for anything that captures my attention.

All suggestions much appreciated!

That's nice. The only thing puts me off is the three month limited warranty. Limited to what, a certain mileage, or just engine and gearbox only? I bought a yoke when I was 18 with a five mins or five mile warranty, whichever came first, and I'd like to think those days are over

Would really depend on the condition of the Bodywork and the service history to determine its value.

If the 'dents' mentioned could be PDR'd and the service history is complete then its probably a grand over priced

Well mine is being traded in at 5 but I really do think that one is over priced. Its also been for sale for a while.

The cars that fit your criteria and budget generally are 6-8 years old so at that age the warranty tends to get more limited unless you go down the main dealer route where prices tend to rise to cover a more comprehensive warranty.

Can you expect a lot more in reality. Bits and bobs can and will go on a 6 year old car. Dealer can't be expected to cover off all angles.

Toyota dealers for example do 12 months unlimited mileage bumper to bumper warranty on any brand under 8 years old, or 24 months/60k on a Toyota under 6 years old.
So assuming ba barabus traded his 159 into a Toyota dealer against his new Avensis today - and they retail it, you'd get a years warranty. (If there's less than 150k on it)

Yep but you're going to pay for that comprehensive peace of mind, a lot of people then balk at the dealer's asking prices on cars of that age.

Fast, rare, lots of toys, great value, quite nice inside.
Minuses
Petrol (depends on how much you actually drive) 2.3 tax is €900.

Saw a petrol 2011 for sale co2 based tax is ~€2,500.

A 2.2 diesel was available after ~2011, but obviously isn't as fast but maybe a bit more sensible.
