A friend has asked me if I knew what these where, but he prob asked the wrong guy. 5 of these have flown into a glass door or window here in Donegal, they are about the size of a Thrush tree dwellers I believe and apparently have a good song. He thinks the lighter colored bird is a juvenile.

Looks like a juvenile Blackbird on the left and a juvenile Starling on the right.

Could they consider putting up some net/curtains to prevent it happening? Sorry, i realise that wasn't what you asked.
    Just a bit sad.

There are also stickers that you can get of hawks and other birds to apply to windows to keep small birds away - I can't vouch for their effectiveness but they are around for a long time now.

They didn't work for me. If anything it got worse. We were getting several strikes a day. The only thing that reduced the fatalities was moving water and food feeders away from the cottage. Still get the odd strike now and sadly don't get to see the birds calling in to feed.

Surveys show they are no more effective than putting any shapes or symbols on the glass to make it's presence obvious. Drawing blinds or curtains can help too.

5 seems excessive. Could be a thing that from the back window they can see right through the house and out the front window and think the bit inbetween is clear space. Closing the blinds on one of the windows would be a quick fix. No one want's to see this continue I'm sure.
