Meteor Huawei P9 Lite - beyond repair

I purchased a Huawei P9 Lite in October 2016 from a Meteor store. Last Monday I got a notification to download the latest firmware. Clicked okay but halfway through the process got a weird message on screen stating installation failed. Tried the back-up/restore options to no avail. Took the phone back to the store and it was sent away for repair as still in manufacturers warranty. Came back today with Meteor saying "beyond repair" and asked had I ever sent phone to a third party repair as they're saying it's rooted. It was not rooted and never with 3rd party. They're saying this voids the warranty and no replacement phone. Any suggestions on how to approach this? Thanks

No help, but have a P9 that failed to turn on. Bought it in November and it acted up in March this year. Sent it back through Meteor. Worked ok for awhile then the battery started to drain and the camera would crash the phone. Got someone to look at it . Basically the repair which was done was a shambles, wrecked my phone beyond repair. Things like heat protection pads weren't replaced and the wedged the battery out instead of using the pull tabs.

Long story short have to buy another phone.

Your word vs theirs. Just have to become as big a pain in their side as you can be until they concede.

What exactly is on the screen now when you try to switch it on? Are you able to get into recovery?
