Aircraft maintenance = unsociable hours , poor pay , newer aircraft not so much interesting skilled maintenance .
My advice would be choose another career.

Most jobs are poorly paid and have **** hours unless you work in the public service even in there you can find yourself on **** pay and **** hours.

Newer aircraft are much more complex than older ones, just because your not fluting about with control cables or ****ing around with some engine that needs constant adjustment doesnt mean that its any less interesting.

Its a very good trade to learn due to the broad scope of technology and systems that are found on any commericial airliner.
Beats the **** out of changing brake pads and engine oil on some filthy car.

Aviation maintenance is a very rewarding career if your willing to work at it.
There's more to it than "unsociable " hours and crap pay. There are plenty options other than licenced engineering also but the basic knowledge is important to gain.
If you go for the DAL apprenticeship pass your exams and get your licence you can open up a world or experiences. You will have to work hard during your training but this will stand to you later. You don't have to get a licence and there are loads of jobs working for leasing companies as tech reps, materials purchasers, tech services, planning, etc. The experience gained in the training will be invaluable for these positions.
If your young and want, you can travel the world and be paid for it.You will not have to stay there if you don't like the conditions......
You will hear plenty of negative comments but there are more positive aspects to it.
Also if you find out you don't like it you can change anytime!
