    Hi
I'm redoing my bathroom & was at a showroom today. The sales guy wasn't too complimentary of Sonas bathroom range in terms of where they are made ( china ) and ease if parts.

He suggested merlyn door for shower and basically any other brand but Sonas for shower tray, wc etc

Wondering does anyone have any input ?

Always send customers to buy sonas bathroom ware it's all good quality stuff. Fitting sonas stuff every day of week. But in saying that Merlyn are a very good door. Ask your plumber what he recommends. Salesman will know nothing about fitting them!!

From what I remember, Merlyn doors are more expensive.

Thanks for info would you have opinion on acrylic baths? I had one picked out but again discouraged as it would yellow and stratch in few years? Steel was recommended buy price differential is big

Some of the acrylics can flex a good bit when full of water and / or a person is standing in them. This can lead to issues if the installation isnt spot on.

I have fitted plenty of both and would have a slight preference for the steel baths but i wouldnt consider it a deal breaker either.

The salesman is right in the fact that the steel stands up to wear and tear better as its an enameled finish that is pretty tough and if you do ever manage to damage the enamel you can get it re-enameled in situ.

Big fan of the steel bath.
Once fitted correctly, with correct batten support on the wall its a job for life.
I have been back to house's where I have fitted steel baths over 10 years ago and they are solid and look as good as the day they were fitted.

Thanks for all the info, where would you recommend going to get a steel bath / or brand that is good. Not too sure about the place I went yesterday

Merlyn doors are v good but very expensive. A pig to fit too if I remember correctly. That chrome strip on quadrants was a hoor to put down. But if I had to choose I'd go with merlyn. Absolutely nothing wrong with sonas either

I have installed alot of steel ones manufactured by Roca , have yet to have a complaint or callback on them. Their website also allows you to filter by the material and all the steel bath sizes and types are easily displayed.
