'Norway "finally" introduces Personalized Licence Plates' - for all vehicles, including classics.

Similar population to ours. Plates cost the equivalent of $1000 for a period of 10 years. The vehicle will still retain its normal registration on documents for administration purposes. The actual plates are issued by the state (in the same way as 'trade plates' are issued in Ireland - i.e. sealed plates with relevant security enhancements inside the plate).

Michael Noonan, in the Dail a couple of years ago - when answering a question about introducing such plates in Ireland - basically said 'its not worth the hassle for a small country'.

    Just saying ;)
