    Ok
    So I've a 2012 car. Had it since 2015.

I've no idea if it's ever been regassed.
Now, it cools the car fine.

But I'm wondering if a regas will make it even colder (before the weather changes)

How often should a constantly used system need a top up ?

I've heard people say you should top it up every 2-3 years. Topping up will certainly make it cooler provided everything else is working properly. It's a good idea to change the pollen filter too or inspect it to see what condition it's in, would replace every 2 years at a minimum.

It's bacteria building up on the pollen filter or internally. If it's real bad you might need to get the system treated to clean it, you can buy kits or bring it to a specialist, sometimes changing the pollen filter will clear the smell. Best way to prevent is to turn the AC off about 2 minutes or so from your destination and allow the fan to run fresh external air through.

It only costs about €50 in most local garages.
No harm getting it done every 3-4 years depending on useage.

There's nothing like sitting in the car these days with all the windows up and AC on full, it's as good as a trip to Lourdes.

Getting my own done Friday. Pollen filter replaced today. Mechanic recommended at least every three years. Will see how it goes Friday.
