Terms of Settlement Not signed

    Hi
We had a contract drawn up by our solicitor to resolve a situation with terms of settlement outlined.  It was agreed verbally by X party the terms of settlement, a document was drawn up outlining the terms but they did not sign anything as they wanted to start addressing the concerns straight away therefore some of the terms of settlement were adhered to however some where not.  X has stated that they will not comply with the other terms.  However it was verbally agreed but they are stating not that nothing was signed.
My question is cause there was nothing signed does that mean we have no leg to stand on, or once they started to address some of the terms did they automatically enter into a contract?

    Thanks

i'm not looking for legal advice just opinion.. My solicitor has informed me that because they did not sign contracts but initiated what was outlined in the terms they have admitted liability, therefore they need to comply with the rest of the terms albeit the terms of settlement weren't signed; My solicitor said also that no letter or communication was served to address any of the terms of the settlement they agreed to it once they began works.
