Plastic instead of copper for replacement brake lines

    Hi all,

I need to replace a metal brake line on her zafira after failing the nct. I have replaced brake lines on cars and vans in the past with no problems using the copper line from the motor factors but was talking to a retired vauxhall mechanic (brother-in-law) night and he said that there is now a plastic brake line that can be used instead of the copper. Apparently it's mot "legal" in the UK. Does anyone know anything about it and is it nct "legal".
His brother uses it all the time in his garage in London and has had no problems. Easy to work with, just cut to length, heat and bend as necessary.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Yours

This is not a shortcut. This is a new product to be used as an alternative to copper brake lines. It's legal in the UK. The question I want the answer to is will a car pass the nct with it fitted.
Plastic brake lines have been used in motorsports for years Nascar etc and it is rated to >2500 psi.

Just do they job properly with copper and you'll have no worries.

That's what the OP is trying to find out. I've never heard of it personally but it doesn't sound beyond the realms of possibility.

This is the closest I can find after a quick search. Yes I know it's "not for street use" as it says on the site but it's a street legal version I am looking for.
