Oil boiler not working

Hi, just wondering if anyone can give me any assistance.

My oil boiler has stopped working, I went to put the heating on this morning to dry some clothes but it never came on.

I went out to the boiler in the back garden, I thought it may be air locked so I pressed the reset button a few times and it eventually came back on, I also had to turn the temperature switch up, as it wouldn't come on or stay on if I lowered it.

The heating came on in the house, however when I turned it off it wouldn't come back on again unless I went put again to the boiler in the garden. We still have constant hot water as of when needed.

I though it was the boiler gone but I've no idea at this kind of stuff, just wondering if anyone has any experience of this or know what could be wrong with it?

    Thanks

How much oil do you have? When was it last serviced? What make and model of boiler? What make and model of burner? Pics of it will do. From the beginning of your post I was suspecting poor circulation, but as I read through it, it may not be the cause.

Do you have a room stat or how do you control your heating? If you have a room stat, you may need to turn it up a bit to get it going in this weather.
Is your boiler or immersion giving you the constant hot-water?

Hi, I have 3/4 of a full tank. I haven't had it services in a while, it's long over due I was actually going to get it services after the summer.

Yes I have a room stat downstairs and upstairs.

Yes it's the boiler that gives us the hot water, we have no immersion.

Summer is a good time to get it serviced.

Make sure the stat is turned well up for the zone that you want heated and see if that sorts it.
If you have constant hot water from it, then the boiler seems to be working (probably inefficiently). It is most likely room stat turned too low to kick it off in this warm few days.
Could be circulation, but one step at a time.
