I have a problem with a split syphon, when the handle is pulled the toilet flushes fine but the problem is it continues to syphon and drain into the toilet until I pull the handle a few times and it stops, has anyone come across a similar problem?

Take the syphon apart to check the spring and arm mechanism
Make sure it's clean add a little silicone grease make sure the syphon isn't distorted stopping free movement

Hi Robbie I did all that already, I changed the plastic underneath as well and but it's still the same. When the syphon is out of the cistern it seems free as a whistle. It's a strange one. I was wondering could it have anything to do with the mains filling the cistern up as soon as it is flushed and doesn't give it a chance to empty the syphon so it carries on syhoning as it fills!? The pressure of the water is fairly strong
