Floor to ceiling windows/doors: costs and best material?

I have a space 8.2 metres in length by 2.5 metres in height. I'm putting new windows etc in the whole house.
At the back, where the above measurements are, I currently have a kitchen window and a sliding door at the other side of the kitchen on the same wall overlooking the patio and garden. As I have to replace them with something, and as I have a builder on site, I'm thinking of floor-to-ceiling windows/doors. I know the latter will be significantly more expensive, I'm wondering how significantly.

First, what sort of price would be in question to do the above sizes as a floor-to-ceiling windows/doors/bilfolding doors? Second, what's the cheapest combination of those? Third, for insulation and warmth, what is the best quality combination of doors/windows/bifolding doors? Fourth, would uPVC be inappropriate for a size so large? Fifth, would triple glazing be possible or would the weight be too much for the roller?

As you can see from my choices below, I don't have strong views on what type of window/door combination I have. I simply want to open up the kitchen/back of the house in terms of light (I'm going to raise the existing patio so that it feels like an extension of the kitchen).

Alternatively, what sort of cost would French doors, with the accompanying window on each side, like this cost?

No expert but will give you my recent experience. Bifolding were the most expensive then sliding then french doors. Aluminium were most expensive then Aluclad, timber and PVC. Lots of providers had a max height of 2.4m, going above that limits the options and increases the price. A number of providers told me that they do not do bifolding anymore as they had too many problems. I don't know if that was true or just sales banter.

For 'high end' timber 2.4m x 2.6m, I got a quote of €3k. For 3m x 2.6m Aluclad I got a quote of €7k. The cost will also be influenced by whether you are doing this with window fitting or this is a job just for that opening.

Generally the fewer pillars and the smaller the pillars, the more expensive it gets. The cheapest route is likely to be PVC french doors. The glass panels either side of the french doors are fixed panels that do not open which are generally the cheapest thing to do with window suppliers.

Bifolding doors give an amazing open expanse to the garden however there are not that many days like today when you would actually use that opportunity.

Just came across this post and we are planning something similar. If you don’t mind me asking what options did you run with in the end and his much roughly did it cost?
