So I'll be renting a car tomorrow here in cork city from get Ireland car rentals. I isn't forgot to ask them if I'll be getting any kind of papers as proof? I suppose so, but I'd like to know. Will i get some kind of rental contract when i pick up the car?

Does anyone has experience with GI car rental? They have a couple locations here, but their shop in McCurtain Street looks kinda iffy. But they are the only ones giving me a car with my German drivers license and only a debit card.

Great Island motors (GIM) Are a long established business, you're unlikely to get a new car on hire from them as they usually have an older fleet.

I have not rented with that crowd but every time I have rented in Ireland (maybe 20 times with various companies) I always got a contract with car details to bring with me.

Just to let you know, i picked up a car today with GIM.

And it's a fairly recent (and decent) opel astra, recent as in it doesn't have a nct badge.

Plenty of cars that require an NCT don't have one ;)

Well, the astra looks like a 2013 or 2014 one...

The registration will give you the year. If it's less than 4 years old, it doesn't need an NCT.

After googling and checking the registration number, it is in fact a 2014 astra with 95hp and a 1.2 liter engine.

I meant the reg itself - 141 is the first half of 2014 and 142 the second.

I didn't know there is a system behind the registration numbers! It is a 142.
