Awful attendance in Belfast. Poor promotion.

Missed the Carroll fight but it sounds like it was a decent scrap. Where does Ormond go from here?

Ormonde goes nowhere. He's all huff and puff but no substance or impact. Tries his heart out, but just doesn't have it.

And he is clearly on the slide..

How long is Gallaghers losing streak as a trainer going now?

I don't know much about boxing but this isn't looking great for Barnes, the other guy seems to be growing into the fight and Barnes is looking tired

Hang them up? The last few times I've seen him he looks like he gases. Apart from Collins, who looks after his training does anybody know?

Recording it..no real interest in Barnes' pro journey!

It's safe to say that Paddy Barnes is not going to make it as a pro

I got an odd feeling that Ormonde is hurting in his fights. Always struggling and I just don't think continuing on like he is is advisable from a health view.

Frampton was talking him up big time pre-fight. Not merited at all based on this performance

The amateur style seems to be ingrained into Barnes here. Looks in trouble here to me.

He'll do well to hold out for a home decision on the cards ....

How are people scoring the Barnes fight?

Don't think he has the stamina to make his style work unfortunately. Not enough flurries.

    Barnes's feather fists hurting him!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57,374 ✭✭✭✭walshb

If this old man had any dig on him Barnes would be gone!

The WBA regular belt is basically the old intercontinental belt.

If paddy dos'nt win this he'll be flipping burgers for a living from now on!

Barnes just doesn't have the power to stop the other guy coming forward. Hard fight to score, Barnes landing the better quality shots but Olteanu coming forward throwing more

They can call it wtf the like...It's like two beginners in the ring tonight having a tap around.

Fit as fook both of them..

Paddy downward slaps a lot with that right hand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,416 ✭✭✭RoryMac

Barnes got out of jail there, can't see how the judges gave it to Barnes by 3 or 4 rounds.

That'll feel like a loss to Barnes, he'll know now he's a mile of the top level

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57,374 ✭✭✭✭walshb

Paddy, it's not a bad performance. That is your level.

You can give him the benefit of doubt by way of the fact that it was only his third pro fight but I'm not sure you'll see tons of improvement.

Agreed. He fought his ass off, but his lack of any kind of power and his weak body as regards strength saw him, and will see him suffer. That old man really a light flyweight...Barnes has all the moves and fundamentals, but pro boxing is a lot more than this.

Jaysus Steven Smith talking rubbish about Paul. You would swear Smith was once good .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,755 ✭✭✭Dick phelan

Paul Smith was an absolute embarrassment in there tonight , how on earth a fighter like him has got 3 world title fights and a fight with Andre Ward is beyond me, He's British level and that's being kind, In Britain alone atm at SMW, Degale, Groves, C Smith, Eubank Jr, Fielding, Cox all beat him. Barnes got out of jail tonight yes it's his 3rd fight but at his age he won't improve much if at all, going nowhere near world level imo.

Was Smith the usual high-guarded heavybag?

    Pretty much..sluggish as fook..

    119-109 across the board...

Yea but even allowing for that Zeuge was catching him at will, it was an embarrassing performance to be able to make a guy like Zeuge look like a top 15 fighter, awful awful from Smith.
