Endodontic Root Canal Treatment

    Hi,

I need a root canal treatment on a molar and more than likely another molar beside it. The problem is that it isn't straightforward, it's a narrow canal and requires a microscope to complete the work. I visited an endodontic specialist who I was referred to who seemed great and I have heard great things about.

The problem is the treatment will cost over €900 per tooth and that isn't including the crown which will be another €700. I simply can't afford this.

I know I need this treatment and I know my bite will suffer and I'll have other complications further down the line. I'm just wondering if anyone on here in the profession has any advice on what I could do or any cheaper options other than going abroad?

I realise you get what you pay for and I have absolutely no doubt that this specialist is great, but I simply don't have €2,500+ to spend on my teeth. The main tooth that needs treatment is pretty urgent, I had an abscess on it a week ago that I fought off with antibiotics and without treatment soon it'll probably return.

Head north or shop around a bit more.
    That's very expensive.

Endodontists in the North are the same price, there are a couple in Belfast, you can contact them for a quote.

Though it is a lot of money, it is not above average for Specialist endodontic treatment, North or South. This isn't a routine treatment that you can "shop around" for, failure will mean loss of the tooth, narrow canals are incredibly difficult to treat and very few dentists have the microscopes necessary to treat them effectively.

Cheaper clinics wont have root canal specialists, if they do the prices will be the same. 900 for a difficult molar root canal is the going rate. This is foundation work, a less than excellent job will literally come back and bite you.

As I know to my cost.:(

I'm seeing an endodontist to get a molar redone at a cost of €700. Had my current work 17 years before it caused any issue.
