    Hi,

Travelled today to the airport from Waterford side. Eflow Tag didn't beep while going to the airport but it did beep on the way back.
Is it one way payment only now? How do.o check if any m50 toll charges arr due on my car?

Some tool disabled the northbound cameras to 'prove a point'. Probably repaired by now.

You pay both ways once you go over the bridge

If it doesn't read the tag, camera will read your reg and will register you that way

My tag only beeps half the time and I've always been billed correctly, still doing this

As above, their system will check if your registration has an account and it will be applied.

You should be able to see the journey on your online account too.

Spotted that on fb. Cut all the wiring.

I always wondered about this because the same thing has happened to me - is there any need to have the tag attached to the windscreen? When it's there it beeps alright but I left mine in the glovebox while I was waiting for the adhesive bit to arrive in the post and when I went through during this time I was charged as normal, presumably just by the camera recording my reg.

So what's the purpose of the tag?

Express/fast lanes at every other toll road in the country.

But as posted above the north bound camera/sensors cables have been cut....they can't read anything going north at the moment.

If they can't read anything going that way, then the op is safe either way

    I'd be surprised.

The muppet did some fair hatchet job on the cabling and the cameras were at the very least redirected (if not broken).

That tool caused me to divert. Was heading N-bound and had to go through the city. Added extra time to my already long journey yesterday and I had my 1 year old in the car.

It is perhaps telling that the Facebook broadcast of his special kind of 'protest' ended abruptly last night.

I fully expect he'll appear in front of somebody on Monday morning attempting to claim his actions were protected under the Peaceful Protest Anything Goes Act of two thousand and never.

    Added:

Arrested last night, due to appear in court later today. Estimated loss of revenue at least €100,000.

Why did it cause delays? Surely you could just plough on?

They closed the motorway while the Gardai tried to convince him to come down.

Loads of folk giving this lad support on fb, and then posting about how they are going to drive up and down the m50 all day to cost eflow as much money as possible :pac:

I think a lot about the supporters is explained by the second part :D

Hopefully no one points out their flaw, will be great to see what happens then.

Shocking to see all these replies.

So i have checked my eflow account and it shows a single M50 toll charge costing €2.10.
Do i have to pay by going on to their website? Or will it come to the account later on?

Wait, you have a tag so if they got your reg they'll just charge it to your account. . If they don't know you went Northbound then all you are going to do is credit your account for the next journey.

As has been said, you do nothing. There is no recorded journey for you to pay for, as the system could not track you. Your journey is one of those making up the claimed lost €100,000 of revenue. Just enjoy your good fortune, you don't get much for free these days!

Correct me if I'm wrong (probably am) but I vaguely remember seeing an article a while back about how we're not supposed to pay VAT on the tolls, and the EU wasn't happy about this. If that's the case, is it really lost revenue...

Revenue decided that all tolls (not just over privately owned ones) are liable for vat. DoT/TII disagreed, lodged an appeal but in the meantime, directed eFlow to pay the VAT to revenue but not to charge extra to customers. An EU court agreed with the DoT/TII appeal so eFlow don't have to charge VAT. Since they never put up there prices to charge vat, they subsequently didn't reduce the prices when vat went away.

During the interim, DoT lost revenue but Revenue gained it. Anyone who is VAT registered could reclaim the VAT on the toll but can't anymore.

In this instance it refers to the company's lost revenue (i.e. another word for income), nothing to do with the Revenue Commissioners - they do not have exclusive use of the term revenue, after all :)

I went through southbound at about 9.15 last night, no tag just a video account. Went onto my account this morning to pay but no journey showing. I thought it was only northbound that had been affected?

It used to take days for trips to register.

I'll try again in a few days but I'd usually go on the day after to pay and it would show on the account. Granted they are usually midweek trips I'd make so perhaps there is a delay at the weekend.

Northbound toll hasn't worked for me since the 14th. Didn't beep today either.

Wouldn't be surprised if they prioritised fixing the cameras and the tag sensors are still awaiting a fix, as they can ultimately bill tag holders through cameras (just more slowly, or with intervention required, potentially), while if they just had the sensors working, everyone else goes though free.
