    We do not close threads at members' request without very good reason, eg, persistent bullying, discussion of illegal activities, etc.

    I've seen threads in other forums closed at OPs requests. Why is mine different?

    Our default position is that threads do not get closed just because the OP requests it.

    There may have been valid reasons to close the others. Without seeing them I can't really comment.
