I found a blue feather from a Jay bird years ago and couldn't figure out what kind of bird it was from , so I thought someone's exotic parrot had escaped until a visit to the Dead Zoo gave me my answer

Well for you. I have Jays around here and have been seeing them for many decades and rarely see them in twos.

Yes we have Jays in Ireland and no they are not remotely like Swallows in anyway.

It's maybe worth pointing out that these are not the same as blue jays in North America.

They're actually quite common, just not commonly seen. They tend to live in dense woodland, and you'll often hear them, look up into the trees and either see nothing at all or just catch the briefest flash of colour as they disappear again.

And, as Del.Monte says, absolutely nothing like swallows in any way. They're much bigger for a start.

In spite of the plumage, they are members of the crow family!

Always two at my house.. Thought they were lovely at first, but sadly, when I read up on them their personalities are not as good as their appearance. Like a lot of humans I guess.
