Does anyone here use Amazon Prime and if so what do you think of it?

I was thinking of signing up for it but Im not sure if people in ROI would get all the benefits as someone in the UK for example.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I have it at 50% regular price.

In the UK? Its AWESOME. Eg: Family member has a newer USBC phone. Only had the cable that came in the box, its wearing out.
Monday night: Order nice new anker cable
    Tuesday morning: dispatched
Wednesday: In locker ready for collection

Total cost? ?5.99 + 0.00. If I'd ordered it at 4PM instead of 11PM it would have been there tuesday.

    In the Republic?
Well, thats not so great. You DO get free prime shipping on FBA orders. Super. The problem is though is to do this your items need to get moved to an Irish fulfilment centre.

    Regular:
Order Monday - Ship Tuesday - Arrive Friday
    Prime:
Order Monday - Ship Thursday - Arrive Friday

So its no faster, but you do get to know when itll be there. If amazon send me a dispatch notice I know I'll see the courier post van between 10:10 and 11:20 AM. Like clockwork.

As a subscribe and save user (coffee pods) this is almost worth it at 50% off. No way would I spend full price on it though. Unfortunately we'll never get a big Amazon warehouse like Bristol or Fife so Prime will never be as beneficial as in the US/UK/Germany.

Thats great ED E. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Whats "FBA orders"? I'll probably kick myself when I see the answer :o

Have you any knowledge of the other aspects of Prime membership such as watching films/videos, listening to music, reading ebooks etc. Do we still get all these features the same as the people in the UK and how would the likes of movies and TV compare to the likes of Netflix?

FBA is fulfilled by amazon (Seller keeps stock in an amazon warehouse) so they can be Prime eligible IIRC.

Google Music is my music source (essentially free with Three) so I dont use that. Prime video is quite good though, AFAIK our catalogue is different to the UKs due to licensing (AKA smaller). Amazon originals can be good but they're still catching up. The Man in the High Castle is great though. Depends on what you're into.

FBA to Ireland via prime delivery is not true unless you mean to AddressPal, ParcelWizard?

This is very interesting. So you have prime video as a ROI customer? And likewise you can avail of the music if necessary?

The reason I ask is that I was on to the Amazon live chat earlier today asking about these things but the main question I had was if people here in ROI could avail of all the bells and whistles that are offered with Amazon Prime membership and they never really give me an answer as such.

Yes, you can avail of prime video in ROI, but the library is tiny - mostly (or only?) Amazon's own productions. To see the full UK offer you need either VPN or smart DNS. If you have never taken a free trial month of prime before you can do it anytime to test it out.

Do you save much on the pods? Cheers!

Yeah, its significantly cheaper than Tesco. You need 5 items to get the 15% discount.

But isn't that offer available without getting prime?

Oh it is, prime just adds one level of priority to the postage.

I haven't been able to find anything on Prime that I'm able to watch in ROI. I've tried a few of their own shows. Any ideas which ones work?

I wanted to watch All or Nothing in particular but no luck. Had to wait until I was at my folks in England, download the lot to my iPad and watch in Aeroplane mode :(
