Abandoned car in apartment parking

Recently moved to a new apartment with a row of parking in front. Sometimes it can be hard to get a space and I need to park in a layby at the side which isn't ideal, but not a major issue.

One of the cars in the spaces is clearly left for dead. English reg, flat tyre, covered in webs. No tax or insurance etc.

I'm not sure if the owner even lives here anymore but it's clearly never going to be driven anytime soon as has been left for a long, long time.

Can I still report this to the council as abandoned as it's in a parking space? It's not a gated area or anything, the spaces run parallel to the apartment block, directly beside the road. Is it possible that it's declared as off the road?

I'm sure as a resident they have a right to use a space, but it's being wasted...car was last taxed and MOT September 2014 but I don't know if it's possible to check the status of it here.

I'm already annoyed at the fact 3 of the 6 cars parked outside don't have tax for 6 months to a year...

The car may be taxed and insured, UK vehicles don't need to show discs for either.

Is the car parked on a public road or within space controlled by the management company? If a vehicle is declared off the road it must be left on private property.

You can search status on uk government website, just google "check mot status" and it will tell you if its taxed or declared off the road or if its tested.

Is there a management company for the apartments? They'd be my first port of call.

It would be up to property management as with most apartments the grounds are private.

You could look to get spaced allocated but you may find there ain't enough to cover the units there.

Its the Irish way build build build and put in feck all services or spaces.

If the person that owns and lives there and only has that car taking a space fair enough but if its one of many then that's bad manners and also should be something that should be in the house rules so to speak.

Contact management company and see from there.

You need to contact the Management Agent not the Company, the Agent is paid to look after this for the company.

I've reported a few abandoned cars in my complex. They might ask you to leave a note on the vehicle to contact the Management Agent. They'll then send out a circular to complex and a few weeks later the car will be lifted. This only applies if you are an owner if you are renting you will need to contact your landlord.

I wouldn't imagine the council would do much about it anyway. They seem only to take away cars that don't have a reg on them.

They won't touch a vehicle in a private development.

Seems they won't touch a vehicle unless it's been char-grilled. I reported a car on Fingal County Council territory a few weeks ago. It's got no tax, insurance, or NCT. It's parked in a disabled bay near a hospital. It has no badge in the window either. I knew it was there at least a year, but when I checked Google maps for street name, I hit the street view from 2009 and the same car is parked there. It's covered in grime and is a POS. It was still there a few days ago and no reply from the council.

Are the reg plates still attached???

If there was some bad wind and they fell off it would disappear pretty quick.

How sure are you it's public property? Just because it's got a disabled sign doesn't mean that the council owns it. I remember a car always being parked on the footpath in the centre of Dublin, can't remember the street though, that was parked on private property so couldn't get a ticket or be clamped.

The spot is across from an old postal hub. There are more on the same road, closer to the hospital.
