    Hi,

Would anyone recommend the Mazda CX-5? The one I'm looking at is a 2013 sport nav version.
The sales man highly recommended them but haven't seen many on the road. Thanks

Thanks summer I suppose like any car you hear good / bad. I read a lot about the 2.2 diesels and some saying stay well away. With dpf filters etc etc.
I test drove one today and have to say it is one of the nicest suv I have driven and lots of gadgets.

We were the same. We were trying to decide between a Honda HRV a Toyota RAV4 or the Mazda CX-5. Test drove them all and for us the one that stood out was the Mazda. We already had a Mazda 6 for 10 years so we're familiar with Mazda and decided to go with it again. We have it almost a year now and so far so good:)

There is plenty of them on the roads. I have seen a lot of them. They are quite common here even do there is no local Mazda dealer so that must be good. They are a lovely car.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

    Hi all,
I'm currently looking at a cx5 myself, I am going test driving one at weekend, however I'd love to talk to someone who has had one and racked up the miles on one to see what problems they encountered.

Likewise we're looking at a CX5 (2014 2.2L diesel). It seems a lovely car and drives well but there are noises on the web about problems with that mazda engine - diesel getting into the oil.
It's difficult to know how common such issues are with the mazda engine and if it's a reason to stay away from the car.
    Any advice appreciated?

Any feedback since guys? Thinking about buying a 2014 cx5 now.

I've had a Mazda (from new) with the diesel in oil dilution problem which I had to get rid of in the end. I have friends with the same engine and they haven't had the issue so it seems to be a lottery. I personally wouldn't touch a mazda diesel again, their customer service is poor also.

stay well away, especially one of that vintage. I had one and it was nothing but trouble.

I have a 2015 CX-5 and i was full of praise for it for first two years, lovely car. Since then its given lots of problems , mostly issues with oil sump and related engine trouble. Its the 2.2 Diesel

We have a 2016 petrol version for past 2years. No issues with it, very comfy and good space in it.

Its not the petrol engine that has the issues, it is the diesel.

I would advise you to get rid asap, before the engine gives up entirely. I was the same as you, loved the car. No doubt it is lovely inside and really nice to drive.

The salesman that really recommended it to the OP would have a different tune if you were trading it in, it is well known in the trade that the 2.2 diesel is nothing but trouble.

I know, that's why we got the petrol engine.

Lovely Car however, 2 pet peeves from the wife's car, the road noise is terrible in the cabin and the arm rest is almost non existent.

The parents had the original cx5 when it came out in 2012. After reading about the problems with them I convinced them to sell a 3/4 years later. Shame really as they are lovely cars, one of the nicest looking SUV’s out there IMO.

Bit off topic but does anyone know how their skyactive x engine is doing reliability wise? Not been out long and I doubt there are that many on the road here considering the price, from memory the list price I saw was 38k for a Mazda 3 with it.
