    False black widow?

What size is it? There's nothing in your pictures to give scale.

Sounds about the right size for a false widow.

very common now - whilst they can bite it seems they rarely do (despite various tabloid scare stories).

I just left it out in the back garden. It was more afraid of me than I was of it.
