If you were going overseas for 12/18 months what are the things you would bring with you?
Things you couldn't do without? That you may not be able to get there
( no food though, so forget your Barrys teabags!)
oh and you have a box being couriered over, so not in luggage.

    I'm thinking good tampons!!
    & Family photos

not sure I would need anything else
    how about you?

That would depend very much on where I'm going. The stuff I'd bring to Siberia would be very different to what I'd bring to England!

Well lah-de-dah. She only said 18 months ffs.
you get 4 wears out of it. Front and back and then inside out. Just rotate every day to let it air out. Easily last the 18 months.

    A pair of balls!

If you're travelling for 12-18 months and yearning for stuff at home you're wasting your time travelling.

Ireland isn't the only place with feminine hygiene products...

Research if things that you use regularly may be more expensive wherever it is you're going, be it tampons, shoes, clothes, makeup, whatever.

And then bring 12-18 months supply of that.

I guess the poster meant that good tampons exist outside of Ireland too.

It really depends on the place, what I'm going over for and the size of the box that's being couriered over

Phone, charger, bank card and spare socks and jocks. Buy everything else over there. That way you'll only have it if you really need it.

If it's 12/18 months of travelling rather than a temporary move to another country, I'm a big believer in packing light.

A couple of t-shirts, one decent shirt, a second pair of jeans, a few changes of underwear and socks, swimming shorts, a quick drying towel & washbag (including some handwash laundry detergent) are about all you need clothing wise.

Add a fully loaded Kindle, a mobile pre-loaded with music, solar powered power pack and charger cable, headphones, cash, credit card and passport and your set to go really. Maybe a cheap tablet with some TV Series / Movies. Depending on means of travel, I'd bring my swiss army knife too.

If you're aiming to camp rather than hostel / airbnb / couch surf you'd need a lot more but otherwise I think most people lug far too much about with them when travelling.

I got a good piece of advice from a seasoned traveller.
Lay out everything that you are packing on the bed, then remove half and double your money

My own contribution - good headphones and a hat
