Can you spray in WD40 (or similar rust dissolver) into the area (via keyhole/flap etc.)?

Silicon spray lubricant is a better bet than WD40, spray in the key slot, and then work the key in and out a number of times to try and get the lubricant into the slots. May take a while for it to get through to the parts that are seized.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

While silicon will lubricate and help prevent future rust, it won't dissolve rust.
