Jobseeker's Wrongly Suspended

Hi. I'm renting a room in a house in Mullingar at the moment. Last week, the job seekers people suspended my payment (without informing me beforehand) as they needed a "proof of address" - although I've been living in this house since the beginning of March and gave them my information then.

Today I gave them the documents proving I'm living at this address but they said they can not yet lift the suspension.

They're going to send a social welfare inspector to my house. They've set it as an "urgent request".

    (1) How long will it take the social welfare officer to get to my house? What day? (Today's Wednesday, should he be here by Friday?)

    (2) Will everything be sorted in time for me to receive payment by Thursday of next week? I need the money by then

    (3) When the suspension's lifted, will I receive payment for the weeks it was wrongly suspended?

    (4) Is it possible to claim compensation? What are my rights and are they breaching it?

I would contact your local CWO office and seek a payment from them, it would be best to have a letter from job seekers etc, drop the idea of claiming, rights etc that will only build a wall and take your focus away from needs to be done(get payment)
I would contact the job seekers office and ask them re times etc if you lost them know that you can take cancellation.

I would send them a letter outlining the difficulties and explaining your case, this places it on record and gives the inspector vital information before they call

good luck with it op, be easy on yourself

As long as you are in when the SWO visits your address then the suspension should be lifted the same day or the following day. However that does not mean your payment will be sent to the PO the next day, you will still have to wait for your next collection day so you should plan for a delay in receiving payment. You WILL be paid for the weeks you lost in full so if you were to borrow a few quid of someone to tide you over you will know that you can pay them back when your back-payment comes through.

When I was on social welfare they suspended my job seekers for 8 weeks because they said someone told them I turned down employment which was completely untrue. If you go in an try to talk to someone higher up than the employers on the desk it might help speed things up.
