I've recently become interested in Passive Housing and was considering a small 2 bed (bout 800 square feet) bungalow type but it's very hard to find a suitable site on the north west coast (clogherhead area etc) the sites are much too large and about as expensive as the house. Just wondering does anyone know any alternatives or does the government give any incentives etc? Many thanks

Unless you are building in a town, on a public sewer, there will be a minimum site size that you must have to get planning permission. Usually about half an acre. Smaller sites are allowable in towns, but of course land is more expensive there so the cost will probably be higher.

That makes perfect sense - thanks a million man. I'll have to rethink it I'm afraid. The dream of something small with a sea view will remain exactly that
