Tax Credits

Like many of you my husband and I are parents with an dependent adult in collage, she doesn't qualify for a grant due to our earnings. As an adult they should be entitled to tax credits. As parents we are not entitled to claim anything for our adult dependent. Should we not be entitled to claim their tax credits.
Anyone see any sense in my thinking.

Sense, possibly, yes, but legality, no. Married couples can claim one another's tax credits, but that's it. Your child's tax credits can be claimed by your child (whether or not your child is an adult) or by your child's spouse, but not by you.
