Weaning Store Lambs....advantages v disadvantages?

Mid March lambing flock here, started with a trickle before Paddy's day, most lambed by near end of March, around 130 lambs in total.
Usually sell ram lambs as 'good forward' stores in early to mid July off the ewes and then the ewe lambs in August as potential hoggets for buyer in Mart.
Are off Suffolk rams and off cheviot and mountain x ewes and some Suffolk x ewes...lambs are the 'Borris' type.
Usually don't 'wean' the ram lambs before selling...however am not going to be able to show lambs in early July this year, given the good growing year I'm half thinking of weaning all the lambs at very start of July, having grass ready for them to go into.
Would then show the ram lambs from around the 20th of July.My main worry would be will they 'fail' much or for long from when they are weaned?...they are healthy and worm, mineral dosed etc.
Or will they actually do better than if they were left on the ewes till mid July?

Appreciate views of lads who wean lambs here and are used to seeing how lambs respond.
Ps-Lambs would only be on grass...not getting concentrates if weaned.

    Thanks all.

I usually work same was as yourself but kept on the ewe lambs longer last year till try and make good weights 50kg+ for selling at breeding sales if any man wanted till put them in lamb and if not hopefully a few butchers would be bidding on them... last year was the first and last year I'll be doing it for a few different reasons 1. The extra dosing 2. shearing them 3. dipping them all things till take into account when doing your sums on keeping them on longer.

Did the lambs stop thriving/fail for long after you weaned them?

Not noticeably anyway they were fit till go onto next paddock ahead off the ewes through a creep gate before they were weaned probably helped.

Unfortunately land doesn't lend itself to paddocks here, they are a great job,set stocking here so lambs with ewes till they are weaned. Was talking to a man today and he said lambs can lose up to 2kg live weight in the first week after ' weaning'.
