Argos delivery

    Hi all,
    Just a query about a purchase made on argos.ie a month or two ago.
    We bought the item got confirmation of the item being paid for. Checked our bank and see the money is out of our account.
    A few days later noticed the money was back in our account. On argos there doesn't seem to be a way to check the status of your order, so we call up and get confirmation that the item is shipping on a certain date.
    So we assume it will charge again when it ships. Item arrives and no payment is ever visible on our account ?
    Tried to check argos website to see what is going on and get the usual 400 error as their website is possibly the worst on the planet.

    Anyone else have something like this happen before ? Can they charge you at a later date without notifying you ?

    The original charge was maybe to check the credit card was valid with enough in the account to pay for item, was it actually charge or pending?

    Yes they can charge it at a later date, not sure how long after I think it's about 6 months, I had a purchase charge made in a shop charged to me about 6 months after we used the card, (it was a few years back before chip and pin)

    Weird though as we got a receipt stating Paid as soon as we ordered. Then the next day or two that payment seems to have vanished from our account.

    Fun is over they charged us today :(
