Are your neighbours in the same boat? Not sure there is anything you can do about this, talk to your ISP and see if they want to get involved. Other than that a chat with a local councilor might be worth it.

I believe there is nothing you can do, some in the past have asked for their connection to be moved from an exchange to a local cabinet but cannot be done.

How long has the existing line been in place, maybe before the exchange/cabinet in your local area was put in place?

In the coming years copper lines will be removed, to be replaced by fibre optic cable direct to all homes.

What is the fibre rollout plan for your house

Internet Service Provider, i.e. the company providing your broadband.

I just bought a house and I can't have a bloody broadband because all providers keep telling that is only 3mgb availability. All my other neighbours have 100mgb. Eir is a provider a fibre a they are very unhelpful.

You are very unlucky indeed, maybe the fibre rollout will come your way some day.

Eir are a commercial company, little the council can do for you.

Most likely not a mistake at the time the line was installed, probably the only option at the time.

If you keep saying that is not a mistake. Why all other house have different availability.A houses been build same time 10 years ago.

Without knowing the area my guess would be a cabinet or similar was provided in the area to cope with demand at the time, peak boom, and your house was one of the unlucky ones to be connected to the existing infrastructure.

I'm not dissuading you from going to the council, TD or anyone else who may be able to act on your behalf with eir but others have posted similar here over the years without success.

BTW: you're only allowed one account on boards

    Scenario A:
Direct Fed - Your line bypasses the local cabinet but is still in the same exchange area. No fix.

    Scenario B:
Somebody got TE/Eircom to do them a favour years ago when moving house from town A area to town B area, no fixing it unless somebody crashes into the pole.

Try Imagine.ie. If nothing else it may tide you over till Fibre comes your way.
