Seems fair and balanced, as Fox news! Isn't there a thread for this stuff?

    No

Wow, of all the 35 votes that have been cast in Ireland so far, 2.86% have been for allowing refugees in and 97.14% have been against!

Fascinating stuff, I'm surprised more news organisations haven't picked up on this

There's already been legit studies and polls on this.

    http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/europes-border-crisis/majority-leading-eu-nations-support-trump-style-travel-ban-poll-n718271

Majority in Europe want to cease immigration from these terror prone regions.

Interesting how? What's your take on them?

I voted no. I feel bad for people in these poor countries and would like to help if possible but I don't believe leaving all of them into Europe is the answer. I have a rather conservative view on border control.

That's more than likely the sentiment of the vast majority of people against the current system of immigration (and also the vast majority f Europe, full-stop). That "I don't like seeing other people suffer, but current immigration policy is not a solution and is only making things worse."

There will always be the nutters are just against other people because they are different, but click-baity titles like that website address only legitimises the lunatics that want immigration to continue as-is.

Its a surprisingly functional website, too bad about the name and the knee-jerks it will cause. Jerks jerking jerk all over the jerking place.

Gaddafi threatened the powers that be that if he were removed from power the flood gates to Europe would be opened to refugees. What happened next.........

Why are they coming here we are not the nearest safe country from where they are supposed to be fleeing from, they are economic migrants out to play the system nothing else, send the lot of them back.

I picked up your link earlier, I'll say the same thing here. Interesting, but most certainly an exception in a sea of contradictory evidence.

How could a YES or NO system be biased?

In regards to the title of the website and potentially the people it will attract to it, then yeah, probably bias. But not in and of itself, so if you fancy evening up the traffic, tell your fellow snow flakes about it :P

Yeah, I have no problem with immigration at all, as long as its controlled and people coming in have skills that we need as a country. I think to many people coming to a place at once can cause social problems. Leave anyone in of any skin colour, race, sexuality whatever.... as long as they have skills that are needed.

Yeah, of course. But its not only the negative impact on this side of the coin, but the other side also.

Current immigration policy (or to be more truthful, LACK of policy) is an infrastructural drain on countries of origin that allow the problems there to continue. Immigration also encourages more immigration, "they made it, I'll go too", it creates resentment among ALL people when immigrants aren't exactly wanted by the destination countrys people and so on and so forth.

    Its bad for everyone.

Sure. You could also smear gerbil droppings across your face, the options in life are limitless! I'm sure the faeces face-mask is preferable to you.

It seems a lot more people are voting in their poll than liking their FB page. Anyway who needs statistical sample, accuracy interval and so on when you can start an internet poll. It's just as reliable as predicting future with horoscope.

Today, in meeeeh's horoscope, something might happen although theres no guarantee. 50% chance that if the moons of your anus eclipse the outer belt of your ring that you could be in luck. Keep an eye out for someone with shoes, they might hold the key to future possibilities.

Of course these polls aren't indicative of much on their own, but the fact that someone (wasted) their time on it, and the few thousand (I think) bothered to vote on it is just that, an indication of something amiss. Part of a larger whole, like your anus.

Plenty. Look up statistical breakdowns of nationalities in the immigration waves, and then think about it.

Why is Refugee in air quotes?

So the refugees brought to Ireland from Syria/Iraq are economic migrants?

Because for a very long time media refused to use any other description other than "refugee". When it became apparent (+ a year or two) that the majority were not from regions of instability or strife, the media finally relented and SOME started to use "migrant" instead.

There are only 3 options here

    1) You are trying to be funny/troll
    2) You are unbelievably blind to what is happening
    3) You are purposefully choosing only the countries you want to accompany a (pathetically veiled) agenda

I'm going with 3), but happy for you to prove me wrong.

You think? As much as I admire your attempt at predicting future you should try to think a bit more. About 1200 people in the whole world bothered to vote. It's a proper movement.

Did my comment not precisely say that its an indication of something much larger? I mean, how are you actually interpreting what I said?

If it was a sole website on the issue, sticking out like a sore thumb, then you could easily dismiss it. When there is a push-back across the whole developed world against current immigration policy, then yeah, I say its just yet another micro-part of the same thing.

    The post I quoted initially stated;

This post suggests (as far as I read it) that the refugees coming into Ireland are not genuine refugees but actually economic migrants. As far as i am aware, since the outbreak of the conflict in the Middle East Ireland has only accepted refugees of camps from Syria and Iraq. Correct me if I'm wrong here.

I'm not trying to suggest that we should do as Liam Cunningham says and take in tens of thousands, but let's be realistic, saying they're all economic migrants is untrue. There are a lot of genuine refugees escaping war zones.

That's because the real Refugees are the misfortunes that thought going into official camps in turkey and the Lebanon would give them properly help

Where as the Refugees that stormed across Europe and the med are mostly economic chancers

As the Austrian border police said they never knew so many Syrians were black
