Go Fuels prices

    Hi Guys,

was just wondering. Are Go Fuels a new player in the Irish Market? And if so, how can they be considerably cheaper then other Petrol Stations. I always understood that Petrol Stations were only making a few cent per Liter, but Go Fuel seems to be a lot cheaper then the competition. I was in Dundalk today, and on Diesel they were 9c cheaper then the Applgreen 250m down the road.

In the past I avoided that specific Petrol Station on Newry Rd. in Dundalk, as they were always quite a bit cheaper (under independent label) and looked slightly "dodgy". But now since Go Fuels has taken that Station over they have really upgraded the Station with new Pumps, a new Shop, HGV Fuel Station behind it etc., and everything looks pretty legit. But if there is so little money in Fuel, how come they can be this "cheap" compared to the competition?

From looking at pumps.ie some stations around bandit country Newry, seem to be priced a lot lower than other areas. More than 10¢/L

Now as far as I'm aware.. there isn't 10¢/L profit on legitimately sourced fuel.

Personally, I believe that if it looks too good to be true.....

Recently, I've been sticking to topaz diesel from a limited number of stations, that are either company owned or where the owner is a personal friend.

The few euro saved might cost thousands to put right.

But then... I'm one of the few who want 98ron and 60 cetane fuels, and am willing to pay for it.

Recently paid £1.449 for BP ultimate diesel (58 - 60 cetane) on a UK motorway, and £1.399 off the motorway.
And I did notice a difference over a 1000 mile trip.

GO are owned by a family from Cookstown who own oil terminals in Derry and Belfast, as well as sea tanker (i believe). Big operation!

A bit different than the Newry cowboys laundering operations.

    Who are they?

We've had them here in Belfast for the last few years. Am just passing a new one as I write this coincidentally....

Their stations up here are all automatic, so no staff costs. Fuel is cheap, though I get ****e mileage from their 'city' diesel so don't buy there. Their stations tent to have heating oil on pump at low prices (typically the rate for a 500L fill iirc), which can be useful.
I've been using their heating oil arm Click Oil for yonks, usually one of the cheapest out there, though very reliable.

Overall a good operation and definitely legit.

Started as LCC (possibly Lissan Coal Company).
One of the first sites that i saw was cookatown self service .... and fair play to them they have kept fuel prices low in the local area which has the cheapest (legit) fuel costs for quite a distance.

According to their blurb they supply the local authorities, emergency services and Translink.

They're big into Colombian coke too.

Of the coal variety. Nothing wrong with their diesel.

I use the one on Kylemore road to fuel up the luxobarge.

Significant saving and petrol seems to be perfect. I haven't tried their diesel.

What price is petrol? My local Maxol is 1.37 and the nearest Applegreen is 1.28.

Not sure this is correct as i think it is still owned and managed by the Loughran family (the original owners), unless this has changed recently.

It is the Loughran family. I went to college with 2 of the lads. Very straight chaps and they run a tight operation. I'm originally from about 6 miles from Cookstown and the petrol station hasn't had an issue that I know of.
