NCT with aftermarket HID

Bought a new car very recently and booked it in for an NCT for as soon as I could get it but I won't get a chance to get the aftermarket HID's taken out before the test. I know they are illegal so it will fail on them alone but does anyone know if they will check the rest of the car out and tell me if there are any other issues or just refuse to take it. Will have to pay a fee if I cancel the test and didn't think about the HID's until after I had booked it.

Lights are usually the last thing that's been checked on my cars any time i've been in the NCT so you should get the report from everything else at least and a fail on the lights.

In my centre it's one of the first things they check, I'm just worried they'll take my €55 and tell me to feck off.

They will do the test either way. Your issue though is they will charge the €28 restest fee to test it again with the correct lights fitted as they will need to test the aim and strength on the light test machine in one of the lanes. I think you can cancel and rebook free if it's a week before the test is booked for.

Test is on Wednesday so cancelling is out at this stage. Don't mind paying the retest fee as I suspect there may be 1 or 2 bits to do to it besides the lights so as long as they will actually test it and tell me what's wrong I'll be happy.

Just lash normal bulbs in, it'll only take half an hour tops.
