    Hi All,

My OH had handed in her resignation as we are moving in order to pack up the house and kids etc. After she handed in her resignation she dislocated her shoulder, this was an old injury that she had surgery to repair several years ago. Knowing the waiting times in the HSE for the operation to come around we figure she will be unable to get back to work as a care assistant for at least 2 years. The plan was to get back to work once we had moved to the new house as there are several nursing homes / facilities that she would walk into in the new location.

So question is what is the best option here? Go for JSA or DA? If she applies for JSA will she automatically be put on 9 weeks waiting list? or would the ineutro officer see that she had intended to return to work in the new location? She has copies of the correspondence with her previous employer? What other info should she bring with her to the ineutro office if JSA is best option?

If it is DA then how long is the waiting list for that? As we are moving at the end of the month will she have to return to our original GP to get her certs weekly / monthly or can this record be transferred to the new GP?

We also have 3 children, I am in full time employment also. Any Idea on how much she would receive in JSA with the 3 children? or DA with 3 children?

Sorry for all the questions just trying to wrap our heads around the process as neither of us have been in the "system" before.

    Many thanks
