Just recently when I turn on the electricity by the pull cord switch for the electric power shower the RCD trips. The shower unit is probably 15 years old. Is there an obvious reason for this? thanks

If it trips instantly then it's most likely the element or motor.
If it's intermittent or takes a few minutes to to trips then the fault is most likely the trip switch itself
