    Hi

I was just wondering if anyone had a rough idea how much it would cost to get a gearbox replaced in an 06 Hyundai Atoz. Just trying to get a rough idea before I ask the mechanic to look at it and I get a fright with the price.
    Thanks

Between 100 to 300 second hand depending on private breaking or a dismantlers yard as per a few searches there.

Possibly 4 hours + labour, possibly new clutch while your at it.

Guts of 600 to 700 all in or thereabouts.

Surely it would be more cost effective to just replace it with a different car.

I am not sure that is why I was just wondering if someone had a rough idea of a cost. Mechanic is going to look at it in the morning and let me know a price range

A reconditioned gearbox is a much safer bet than a second hand one from a breakers yard. You have no idea what condition the second hand one is in or how it was treated. Give a few gearbox/transmission companies a ring for a rough price.
