Rooflight /Lean-to guttering

    Hi Guys,

Would very much appreciate your opinion on something.

We are in design phase for an extension, which includes a 6m lean-to along the gable wall of a two-storey semi-D.

The lean to is glass-roofed and is 2m wide.

I envisaged that the rooflight (one solid glazed unit) would run right up to the gable wall, with flashing. Presumably on a small ledge.

The architect, however, has designed a ledge, almost 500mm, incorporating a gutter.

This is in addition to another gutter, running parallel on the outer wall of the lean-to. ie. 2m away.

I haven’t been able to find any examples on this around or online and the architect cites dirty water running off the wall.

No doubt there would be rainwater runoff from the gable wall, but enough to merit two gutters and that amount of ledge?

    What think ye? Ta,
