Any opinions on these with the 6 speed manual ? There seems to be a few for under 4k on Donedeal.

Are they all 2006 or 2007? If so, I wonder if they're being sold due to insurance?

Nice car. The auto makes it more Lexusy but the manual is good too.

In 2008 we did witness sales of 2.5l cars close to nilch.

Avoid the IS250 without automatic. It's a really unloved gearbox that doesn't suit the car. Check out a few Lexus forums for pretty much universal negative feedback. Had an auto myself. It was a great car.

That's simply how a good ad looks like...

A car that have been cleaned, washed and probably waxed, pictures taken in a good day and then a bit of Photoshop applied (clarity slider moved to the right to create dramatic effect).

I did twig the instagram style photos alright. Was more refering to the spec though.

Is it not the manual in the is220d that's pretty poor.

From what I understood the manual is250 was/is grand and actually allows the v6 to be used to it's full potential.

Parkers website stated that it was notchy, however it never mentioned in relation to which engine though.

Id drive an auto no problem but do prefer the more involved drive with manual.

I've driven a few of them (including the one in the ad IIRC) and they're grand, the gearbox in the IS200 was more obstructive than the one in the IS250 and nobody minds those.

    Looking at 07KE1902 (07 KE 1902) on motortax.ie
    Change Of Vehicle Ownership
    Purchased by a Dealer on : 02/06/2017

    Notified on : 07/06/2017

    I'd avoid, for one of two reasons;
Either the dealer is trying to pretend they're a private seller so they don't need to offer you a warranty, or else the new owner has found out that they have a lemon, and is trying to get rid of it.

Or it was traded into a dealer and someone has bought the trade in to sell. It's not like there's hundreds of nice IS250s for sale out there.

i've a 2007 manual is250 myself and the manual drives as good as any other manual i've driven, had a mk5 golf gti before that and lexus manual is almost as good imho.. gti obviously quicker through the gears and a much lighter car..
i did try 2 auto is250's before i bought the manual, just didn't like them tbh..
    But each to their own..

The autos have tiptronic though so you get best of both worlds. Friend of mine mentioned the ratio was poor on the manual. It was on 220d as I drove one and it was awful. He had is250 though and said same.

Never drove it though so can't disagree with poster above.

Fancying one myself but thinking of auto for this reason

Do you reckon you'd get mid 30's motorway from one of these?

Stated mpg of 35mpg. Suppose it depends on how you drive it.

The 250 and 220d are chalk and cheese.
Tiptronic is not DSG or anything and couldn't reasonably be described as the best of both worlds. It's still a slush box.

That said it's a nice slushbox as long as you don't expect it to be shporty

Putting reliability aside what can make a manual gearbox to be know as bad ? Ratios ?

I've gotten 40mpg motorway at 120 on a regular basis.. city driving it does drop to 29 - 31mpg though.

The manual box in the is220d just had a ridiculously long 6th gear as in it was useless until about 75mph. Hence it got a bad rep.

The is250 box is a completely different kettle of fish it's grand. The box itself is used in lots of cars much like the one in the is200 was. There's literally nothing wrong with it. Good slick gear change action and good reliability what more could a man want.
